Who we are

Just like a tree, the space of Baraka was born in Thessaloniki as a café-bistrot. Its atmosphere leads those who visit it, as well as those who work within it, to seek out its distinctive fragrance.

Baraka bore fruit and began its publishing activity in 2011, releasing as its first book The Herald of Coming Good by George Gurdjieff.

Along the way, as we sought ways to bring different vehicles into our inquiry, we created the Dances of Knowledge Organization. Dance, Music, Theatre, Word, Arts, Science and an understanding of Healing meet within this inquiry—not with instruction as their aim, but with lived experience through inquiry.

Like branches of the same tree, Baraka’s meetings and activities spread from Thessaloniki to Corfu, Athens, Madrid and Geneva.

Baraka is not found only in what can be seen.

Baraka also means something else, something not easily put into words: the bridging of everyday life with the inner state of the human being who breathes, works and lives.

Something is born between people: in the way a glass of water is offered, in a glance, in a conversation, in the silence that does not need to be filled.
